Referral is not reselling
An affiliate or referral program sends the customer to the vendor and pays a commission. A reseller relationship usually gives you more control over packaging, customer relationship or pricing. White labeling goes further by allowing part of the end-user experience to carry your brand.Marketplace model
Marketplace-led programs let agencies package third-party products or services through a branded portal. Vendasta is a current example of this model, with wholesale products and services tied to its plan structure.Platform/SaaS model
A platform model lets the agency configure software environments for clients and sell the resulting product. HighLevel's SaaS Mode is an example of software-reseller infrastructure layered onto an agency platform.Contract and economics checklist
Verify branding rights, billing control, data ownership, cancellation behavior, usage fees, minimum spend, support responsibility and what happens to clients if you leave the platform. Those terms can matter more than a headline commission or discount.Read the operational terms before the marketing page
A reseller program can look attractive until minimum commitments, support responsibilities or branding limitations are included. Before joining, document who owns the customer relationship, who invoices the client, whether you can set retail pricing, which costs are variable, and what happens when a client cancels.
Also verify whether the program gives you genuine white-label rights or simply permits resale. Those are different commercial positions. If the end customer sees the original vendor throughout the experience, your packaging and retention strategy will differ from a deeply branded product.
